Philips Audio SHP9500 Over-Ear Headphones

Philips Audio SHP9500 Over-Ear Headphones

Great set of cans, super comfortable. $60 has been the “sale” price for brand new for about two years.

Pair it with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ or refurb from amazon warehouse here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N4DY2LH/r ($29.99 new vs $25.62 refurb)

I don’t suggest the boom pro x as the sound quality is noticeably different. The Boom Pro is better and cheaper.

Bought these (new, not reconditioned) 15 months ago on Amazon for $75. Comfortable, but be aware that these are “open-back” so sound leaks both directions: background noise from the environment gets in a little, and if you’re in a quiet room with others, they’ll notice the sound coming out a bit. This allows the sound to be a bit more natural, with a larger sound stage, though. Also, the “sleeve” on one of the plugs slipped off when I unplugged it (only the one side has this sleeve, the other end is just molded plastic). I’m OK with that as I value having the fully removable cable over any issues with said cable, since I can just replace it in the future if I want/need.

This is one of the most popular recommendations from audiophiles for people who want to try their first pair of good, wired cans. Good price, too. X2hr is a step up but is usually well over $100

I love these headphones. I have a sensitive head and most headphones I’ve tried felt like a vice grip on my head. These are super loose, light and have huge earpads. I’ve dropped them many times and slept with them on and never been concerned about breaking them.

Yeah with wired, open backs are actually more common than with Bluetooth. They generally have way better Soundstage, but not ideal in cramped settings.

There’s a solid EQ profile for these here: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/qh6mw8/shp9500_eq_v4/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
