Will data flow both ways? I have an old laserdisc player with RCA outputs. Would this allow me to plug into an HDMI input on my TV?
Hi there. These are being pulled from Amazon inventory so we don’t have a lot of information. Here it is on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Composite-Converter-Chromecast-DVD-Black-UPGROWHRCA01
Doesn’t sound like it though:
You’re looking for the opposite of this, RCA to HDMI.
No. These converters only work one way. You need to find an RCA to HDMI converter. For example:
https://www.amazon.com/Converter-ABLEWE-Composite-Supporting-Blue-Ray/dp/B07RX69KR8
https://www.amazon.com/Converter-Adapter-Support-Compatible-Blue-Ray/dp/B09MVNDY7C
And… laserdiscs!? I though I was the last one who had laserdiscs, much less used them!
Haven’t used laserdiscs for years. I thought I’d look a few over before dumping them! Thanks for the tip. I’ve ordered the correct item from Amazon.
Hmm, the only use I can think of for this would be to connect a modern source device to an older projector. You could also use it to output to an old TV, but it’s more likely that people got rid of old CRT TVs/monitors because of practical size/weight/power/heat concerns and replaced them with modern HDTVs. Projectors are less common and more expensive (although, admittedly, you can find cheap ones nowadays including here on Woot) and it’s probably more likely that some have an old, pre-HDMI projector that’s still usable at least until it’s lamp burns out. I have an SVGA office projector lying around here that fits that description, although it would still make more sense to go HDMI-to-DVI.
