Gotta say, of all the cars I’ve had in my lifetime (and I’m old), and many of them kept until they were >20-years old: one part I’ve NEVER had to replace is an engine oil dipstick.
So what’s with these Hyundai ones? Do they corrode and dissolve over time, like the anode rod in a water heater? (that would be bad…)
I don’t think it’s a brand issue. It’s a pretty common replacement part. I’ve replaced one on Mercury Mariner because it got bent after an accident.
Ouch. A bent dipstick is the worst!
My oil change guy appreciated the challenge.
You had to go in high, wiggle it to the left, swear a little, and then pull it to the front.
I think the previous owner hit a deer or something.
A few years back I had to replace mine on my Toyota. The plastic handle became brittle and snapped at the top of the tube. Man that was a pain to get out
