Reviews over at Overstock

I bought this saw last time it was on woot.

Worth every penny and then some! If you are on the fence, just purchase it! You will not be let down.

I have used this saw for a bunch of projects already and it has performed just as good as my neighbors Dewalt compound miter saw (I used to borrow it all the time for my projects!) but for less than half the price!

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made on woot!

Sold the exact model at a chain hardware store. Multiple units came back because the blade would leave a 1/4 inch section untouched.

Not sure if a defect in the tool or if it was shipped with the wrong sized blade. Any more WOOT buyers wanna check that out for us?

Bought one, came broken, WEN wouldnt help. Has no electric brake so blade keeps spinning. Spend more money and buy a DeWalt like I should have.

So the reviews at Amazon lead you to the conclusion that this is a decent budget saw, one that will need to be aligned/checked regularly. At the price, I believe that. It’s certainly no contractor grade tool.

And I’ll second the comments about Wen service. I bought a reconditioned “Dremel-style” tool that didn’t work and they were totally helpless. Had to settle for a refund.

Proceed with caution and reasonable expectations. I have some minor trim work to do around the house and will probably take a pass. If nothing else, I want an electric saw brake.

Only bevels to the left???

I bought this during a previous sale. I love the thing. Cuts like a knife through butter. nice and accurate/consistent. It does indeed only bevel to the left however. A bit of a pain but you can work w/ it for the price. Blade cuts through entire piece. Sawdust capture bag is useless.

Correct. Many units work this way. Means you have to turn the board over and cut from the back for a right bevel. No biggie.

On the other hand, you can get a good Ryobi for about the same price and it’s great! (I did that.)

Confirmed from the vendor. Also, what bigelowb said.

I got one last time - it is what it is - and I don’t really deserve a better saw. Light duty, a little sloppy. I looked at the Ryobi and they look very similar to me. It’s the stupid blade guard that causes that “last 1/4"” problem. Seems to me the spring is too strong, and the bottom of the guard is a little too long, so it hangs up if you don’t really mash on it. I just cut some of the bottom of the blade guard and it’s better.
