Wouldnât most people need or want the USB-A to USB-C charger. This is USB-C to USB-C. Wonât fit a common USP Port.
Usba cannot handle the power usbc can. The c to c cables are designed for more bandwidth. Usb a can handle 18w max but thats not typical. C can go up to 240w.
Most charging bricks are usb-c now, so usb-a is a thing of the past
Why are these only 60watt listed then if they are usb c to usb c?
All power cables are built with specific amounts and thickness of conducting wire and insulation to safely carry a particular wattage. Going over 60W would require different materials and cost more to make, increasing the price.
Higher wattage cables will cost more and usually not be as bendable.
Unless you are on a plane or in a car, where USB-A will be the built-in charging option for years.
New cars already have USB-C as the standard. USB-A is outdated. Even planes have both USB-A and USB-C ports side by side already, the A variant is one the way out.
For reference. The iPhone 15 pro max charges at 20w.
The newer ones will probably have a bit more. This is future proof for a good while.

When airlines replace planes they donât do it in one go. They slowly decommission until everything is ânewâ, when they will likely start fazing out again for the next standard. There are planes with usb-c NOW, you just havenât been on one.
USB c is becoming pretty ubiquitous.
Yeah I mean you could always buy adapters. My Amazon sells USB c to USB-A adapters and vice versa for like is cheap as a buck each.
USb-a Will be relevant for a while and Iâm OnePlus and oppo superbook charging it has USB A to USBC still. Although thatâs a proprietary solution the charges at 80 or 100 w
But it really can depend on what kind of stuff people.
I do have a couple like Bluetooth speakers and earbuds that will only charge with USB-A.
But I feel like since roughly 20/20 or 2021 or so USBC charging bricks or becoming probably more predominant.
A lot of them have more than one port so youâll get a USBA and a USBC or two USBAs and a USB-C or some combination thereof.
I hear they still give out plug in head phones.

I bought some of these Anker cables (USB-C to USB-C) at $9 or so each couple of years ago. Theyâre VERY GOOD cables, worth the $3.75/ea if you buy the 4-pack here.
To answer others, most USB-C cables can handle 60W by default. Some like the Baseus reel-in cable that Woot offers periodically handles 100W, but has NO data capability. The world of USB-C is getting a bit confusing with people unsure of what theyâre buying, unsure of what they need. Read the manuals and instructions, folks.
If you need more power capability (e.g. for a laptop computer) shop for a cable that states its rating. If you want data capability too, generally a Thunderbolt 3 or better cable will tick all the boxes. Apple Thunderbolt 3 cables sometimes sold here on Woot work; I bought a 3-pack and theyâre weill-built and versatile. Thunderbolt 4 and 5 cables are more specialized and will cost you more, depending upon the brand. But you should see specs with statements like â20 Gbps data throughput,â âup to 280W charging.â
For the USB-A versus USB-C argument, yes some older facilities, vehicles, aircraft still have USB-A ports with the voltage limitation that USB-A has. From time to time i buy things like handheld vacuums, kitchen timers, flashlights, etc. that the instructions mandate you use a suppliedk USB-A to USB-C cable only, and not a computer USB-C charging connection. RTFM and heed the warnings, or suffer the consequences. Not all cheap devices can regulate voltage and current from higher wattage chargers. Use the cable they give you or replace like-for-like.
My car ONLY has USB-C ports; lots of them. It annoyed my backwards brother-in-law that brought his obsolete cable on a road trip. I had to rig up something that worked for him.
I bought several low-end devices (including from this site),that only worked with a USB-A to USB-C cable from a âdumbâ 5V charger. Apparently the âchipâ inside for charging canât handle the communication needed to tell an intelligent USB-C what it needs
