4' 250 Watt Equivalent LED Shop Light

The 250 Watt equivalent is to incandescent. Check the Lumens rating of your current light, that is a more direct comparison of brightness.

What kind of comparable energy usage do they use?

These fixtures typically replace a 2 lamp fluorescent chain mounted fixture. In some cases, these can replace two fixtures for one.

@scyber, I’m choosing to interpret @wootatchakobsadotnet’s post as facetious. A mocking response to the silly 250 watt equivalent marketing claim.

It is completely understandable that one would not want a sun burn whilst simply putting the car away for the evening.

Some Costcos have lowered the price to $25 (in-store), I purchased 2 of them and they are fantastic! I really like the fact that they are flush mountable, I installed one in my kitchen even though it says it is a shop light…it fits/works perfectly under my cabinets.

4’ long, 3700 lumens, 38 watt, 4100K, 50,000 hour life,

Bought two on May 27, 2015. Replaced my two in the garage. Twice as bright as my old ones and the wife never turns them off so they’ve ran pretty much non-stop since installed. I turn them off when I walk by but that’s about twice a week. Instant on which is great since my old ones took a few seconds and I’d stare into the dark garage hoping nothing was in there staring back at me before the lights came on.

It used to be that Internet sourcing resulted in **competitive prices ** vs brick and mortar. I suppose it does in some cases, perhaps many, if you live in a rural community.

But I’ll second and third (fourth?) the comments about the Costco-sourced shop light variants. Good quality and light output. For a better price now… and the same price when back when they launched them earlier in the year. Have had several installed for almost a year.

And I looked closely at the SAMs equivalents. While they appeared to be of OK quality, their LED chips were under clear lenses - so they were harsh unlike the diffuser-lensed Costco models. (It is not “clear” from the photos or specs whether or not these Woot shop lights have naked LED chips.)

As with most things (including CEOs) Costco is superior to SAMs.

{Note: I have no affiliation with any manufacturer or sales company.}

Other than a friendly return policy and better price, other key benefits of the Costco shop light:

  • flush-mountable
  • 20% lower energy consumption (38 watts vs 48 watts). If you have 4 shop lights that is enough savings to operate a 5th Costco light!

… and come on Woot, much better detail photos here: (including what appears to be evidence these LED chips are covered by a diffuser lens rather than harshly left naked)

Hi, sorry all, I was looking for the bidets, are they in ‘tool and Garden’ or ‘Home!’ woot?

You may want to look into the company that makes the lights for Costco. You may also want to look into their failure rate.

You may want to look at the company standing and failure rate of the Costco brand of lights.

Hey rob. I have a question. Could this be converted to run on a 12v DC off grid system? I am sure that that would likely void the warranty but could it work?

They will be on Tools when available.

Not that I know of. I think it will only work with 120v

I know you want to convert this to 12v, but why not just use an inverter?

THX for your support. I do have an inverter already that I use for a garage door opener. May have to just tie lights into that. Biggest thing i wanted is to be able to run the light separate from the invert so I can only switch on the inverter when needed.

Emailed, thank you.

If you figure it out, let me know. I too have been trying to get some nice 12v (none-inverter) lights for my RV (not spot and not built-in). Impossible to find.

This is pretty close to what I want:
