Not Woot’s fault of course, but how the heck is this thing still on the market, and at or near the $100 price point? 24KB of RAM… woohoo!

After the fall of the Soviet Union, analysts went over to see what they had for military hardware. They found a bunch of TI chips in their fighter aircraft and were using chips from these particular calculators for missile guidance systems.

Seems possible - the ancestor of this calculator used the Z80 processor, which was pretty common. Even the Soviets produced Z80s, so it would make sense that they used it in some planes.
