Bluetooth Smart Watch for Android

Bluetooth Smart Watch for Android

This same model watch was for sale on Walmart’s website for 10.41… the reviews are poor at best.

Do you have a link for us to look at?

I bought this from Woot on Sep 4, 2018. I wanted it only to be able to see the time, text messages and incoming calls while sitting at a bar (instead of placing my phone on the bar) and while playing table games at a casino (they won’t let you have your phone out or use it.) For that purpose, this $15 wanna-be smart watch did the job. However, I just went to get it off the top of my dresser (where’s it’s been sitting unused for at least a month) and discovered that the battery is swollen and trash. Still, for $15, I’m not mad.

It receives only SMS (plain text messages), not MMS (pictures, group text.) Won’t even give notification for MMS. Memory card (not included) is required to store photos, video. SIM card (not included) is required to use anything that requires Internet. Apps can’t use Internet via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. I can’t remember if SIM is required for phone calls or if it can be done via Bluetooth. I’m pretty certain I never made a call, so it might be SIM. Attempting to compose and send a text message is very tedious and not worth the hassle. The “anti lost” feature gives an alarm if the Bluetooth connection is lost, which seemed to happen if the watch is more than a few feet from the phone. Also happened frequently with the phone in my pocket while sitting at a bar. You will always select “don’t remind again” after the first alarm.

No thanks…

“A cheap smart watch often peddled on eBay uses a pairing app for Android or iOS that contains a backdoor that quietly connects to an unknown Chinese IP address.”

How would you know if an expensive smartwatch sent info to chinese IP addresses?

My woot watch just arrived today, but a bit miffed that I did not see gatesboy23’s post until now. Here is the link for the watch on Walmart site:

Seriously, be realistic, at anything under $20 you should expect these to be manufacturing seconds or rejects. They are just being dumped on the “silly americans” to recoup some of the production costs.

However, sometimes it can be worth the gamble if the defects are something you really don’t care about. If it just keeps good time, notifies you when you get a call, and the battery life is reasonable - its probably worth $15.

It is another one of those Wish knock off items

Every time I look at this or the “Tiki Tunes” I think of Wish. I was coming here to post that.

Download manual. Is such good reading activity. (Yeesh. That alone should be sufficient warning!)

Not one of the chinese watches are worth a dime. Over the past few years I have bought a bunch of them along with some name brands Sony & LG. All I wanted or needed was choice of digital watch faces and being notified of a text msg or call. Being a bit old at 68, most times I get hear nor feel a phone vibrating in it’s case so I needed one. OMG, All of them would have like 5 faces non digital. The Sony wasn’t bad and used a standard charge cable, but weighed a ton and had a lousy screen. The LG was perfect and used Android Wear app for faces. I paid $25 used with a charger base.

If the IP address is unknown, how do you know it is Chinese?

IP’s are geolocated. Places like https://www.iplocation.net/ can show you where they are.

Really bummed! Trusted Woot to be the lowest price and when looking for operational manual ran into this at Walmart for 9.99! Not very happy not to mention it does not link to emails on phone.

It’s hard to say since it’s a different brand if they’re the same. There’s quite a few of this type of watch out there.

Does anyone find it strange that none of the people in the pictures are actually wearing the watch? None of them are wearing any watch at all.

LOL. I didn’t even notice that. Good eyes.
