It’s cheap, and something is better than nothing, but resolution means very little without a proper sensor. At present look for any brand using the Starvis 2 sensor. It will give you a better chance of being able to read license plate numbers. I’d also recommend avoiding Rove dash cams.

How and Where is the “rear” cam mounted?
does one have to run wires to the rear of the car?

Based on Amazon reviews, it sounds like it comes with a cable you run to the rear windshield and you stick the rear camera to the inside facing out
