UVC is NOT to be used around people or pets. Exposure to UVC is dangerous, carcinogenic, harmful to your eyes and skin. Much like ozone generators, you have to restrict operations to times when people and pets aren’t around.
Thats why you put it in a room, set it and run. A timer works great so it will run for a bit and shut off. Just like the meds your doctor prescribes. Read the instructions before use.
Did anyone else receive their order yet? I placed mine on June 11. Woot promptly shipped it from Los Angeles THAT DAY via UPS. It traveled to Lenexa, Kansas arriving just before midnight on June 15, then promptly left the next afternoon for Missouri, arriving the same evening. Then it languished in the same location until June 22, when scheduled for delivery. But it’s delayed for another day, so on the morning of June 22, I called the UPS phone number (apparently one answering center for the entire US), asking if I could pick it up at their terminal. They said that the customer service center is closed. Really? Being no other phone number to call, I drove there, and found the Customer service center OPEN. They couldn’t get to my package that day, but as it was scheduled to be unloaded from the trucking container to the delivery van that night, I could divert the delivery from my home to the customer service center. Hmmmm… One less thing to go wrong. So I said yes. And I picked it up the next day. Wow, was I happy.
Then, I got really sad when I opened the package: No UV disinfection lamps. I think they sent a:

the user Gear Patrol – 10 May 20 submitted a photo of what LOOKED like what was sent to me. If indeed, that’s what was sent, I think just a shipping error occurred. So, I wrote to Woot customer service:

Instead, I received 3 “Purpleglow” somethings (UPC = 6 970749 643659) which look like hand-held ultraviolet artist’s lamps or mineralogist’s ultraviolet prospecting / fluorescing mineral identification lamps. I could identify nothing on the Woot.com site that visually looked like these things, EXCEPT in one discussion board: UVClean+ Portable Instant UV Sterilizing Wand - #65 by mikeoak29. In that thread, near the bottom of that page, in a photo submitted by “Gear Patrol – 10 May 20” is a photo of a white “UV Sanitizing Wand” (frankly, looks like a white dildo with a swollen end) which looks identical to what I received. And, no, I didn’t turn it on to see if it lit-up. Or vibrated.
If at all possible, my preference is to replace what I received with what I ordered. Besides, there’s probably someone out there expecting a white vibrating or illuminating dildo who might have received my UV sanitizing lamps. They’re probably sad, too, and would probably not want the lamps I ordered. Of course, if that’s not possible, a refund to my credit card would be fine, too. But, really, I’d prefer to receive the UV lamps I ordered, as I already have a planned use for them. Thank you very much, and despite the very rare goof, (and I mean REALLY RARE goof: I think this is only my third problem in nearly 250 orders over about 15 years, and now even while weathering a global pandemic) I still love Woot very much, despite ownership changes, billion-dollar-deals & everything else you guys have weathered. So please keep-up the good work!

Is it what you expected? Did it produce UV-C? Ozone? Did it vibrate (I hope not)?

But really, UPS seemed overwhelmed with that one. Another WOOT purchase (made on the same day) arrived in 3 days time, ALSO from LA. It’s just the chaos caused by COVID-19, I’m sure. Frankly, I’m thrilled that WOOT! & Amazon have decided to keep whatever low-cost leader shipping is used to keep prices down. If something was really time critical, there are higher-priced options available with either service available.
I hope you recognized, I wasn’t complaining… just my way of poking fun at myself.
And I can manage to do some pretty funny (or stupid) things on my own… Thank you!
