Hey, Wooterators—this looks like a great set of party bowls at a nice price, but you may want to edit the second photo that lists it as a 46-piece set at the top (even though it shows the correct information about being six bowls at the bottom). ![]()
Ah, thank you! Sent it on to the team.
I ended up ordering these bowls and am very pleased with how sturdy and nice they are; so many similar large plastic bowls are thin and flimsy, and it can be hard to find plastic bowls that are microwave safe and dishwasher safe (though I’ll still hand wash to help ensure they stay residue free and properly shaped). The colors are vibrant and will be great for parties and potlucks. I noticed that rather than editing the error in the graphic I pointed out previously, Woot has simply deleted it, so the full dimensions of the bowls were removed from the listing—the width measurement of just under 12" is correct, the bowls are 5" tall, and each holds 5 qts of liquid if you go all the way to the top of the rim.
However, the packaging for the bowls was ridiculous. Even though they’re plastic, they’re still breakable, so I wasn’t thrilled when they were plopped on my doorstep in an unpadded Amazon poly bag rather than a box. The fit was so tight within the bag that I had to cut it away (the perforated flap opened but the bowls were too wedged into the bag to move), and then I found a blob that turned out to be about 4-5 layers of packing tape over a layer of bubble wrap covering the set. It seriously took me 10 minutes to get to the bowls because it was impossible to tell exactly what was under the tape for awhile and I didn’t want to chance gouging or cutting a bowl with a box cutter or scissors. When I finally got to the bowls, it was nice that each one was within a thin plastic bag because that keeps them from leaving rub marks when they’re stacked.
Overall, this is a good deal for some good bowls. Just expect that the packaging will be frustrating and hope that it will be sufficient to protect your purchase in transit.
So not frustration-free?
I’m just surprised that there was bubble wrap. That made me happy to read.
DEFINITELY NOT frustration-free packaging.
In the future, whether they use a box or not,* omitting at least half of the packing tape plastered around the bubble wrap and bowls would be much better; it’s not as if that adds any padding, and it really did complicate the process of getting to the bowls. It was hard to tell for sure since I ended up leaving at least some of the tape on the bubble wrap, but I’m fairly sure they could have used just one or two strips of tape and the bubble wrap would have stayed in place.
*A box really should be used instead of a bag; I ship a variety of items each week, and I know the cost would be the same or likely less than $1 more per shipment for something the size and weight of this set (especially with the bulk discounts Amazon negotiates). And the savings in knowing that the box significantly protects against damage and therefore additional costs due to returns would be worth it if it were me packing things…
Here’s Amazon’s stance regarding shipping:
One of my “favorite” things in Amazon shipping land is when I receive a poly bag full of cereal crumbs. I always make sure to order at least two boxes at a time, hoping that will encourage someone to think they’d be better in a box than a bag, but NOPE. And then I get to contact customer service for a refund. I’m sure they think that because the cereal is in a box, it is protected—but I’m also sure they’ve probably eaten boxed cereal before and should know the boxes are designed for advertising, not shipping. ![]()
And which vendor is the worst in the world at shipping books properly? The first gigantic global bookstore, Amazon! Sigh. It’s even worse when you get the bags that say something like, “This bag is lighter than our lightest box.” Translation: We care about our pennies more than your product. D’oh.
Hard to say where the bubble wrapping happened - at the manufacturing site, the vendor’s warehouse, etc.
This did ship by our vendor, not Amazon. Most places though - including Amazon - are switching to the polybags to save money.
Thanks for the feedback though. It’s appreciated.
6 bowls?! People have more than 1 popcorn/mixing/puke bowl in their house?
Sometimes you’ve got to have a popcorn bowl to watch the other bowl being used by a penguin trying to make brownies.
Cable TV is just too expensive. Get you a penguin and an Amazon subscription.
Order another bowl and enjoy the 2.8 miles of twisted packing paper. Untwist that and roll it back up. Paper train the penguin.
…
Profit!
I once melted a nearby mixing bowl while making an omelette…
I know. That’s why we keep ordering bowls to get more paper.
What does that have to do with trains?
Oh…
The trains are made out of paper.

There should be one going by around 9. I’ll turn the Christmas lights on and you can sit on the porch and howl at it.
I’d say that penguins don’t howl, but then again, I didn’t know that snakes growl.
