Acer 11.6" Intel Quad-Core 500GB Notebook

Acer 11.6" Intel Quad-Core 500GB Notebook

If you need a laptop so badly that you’re willing to play 370 for this, you’d be a fool not to buy this instead.

For only 50 bucks more you get FHD, an SSD, twice the ram, a heck of a lot better processor and a full year manufacturer warranty. Woot you should be ashamed of yourself.

There is no reason to buy this laptop at this price. None. Not a single one. You can find Windows laptops that are comparably priced online, and they will have better specs than this. Just to reiterate, if you buy this, you’re dropping $370 for:

  • 6 year old processor (Bay Trail-M, so basically a fancy Intel Atom)
  • 500 GB Mechanical hard drive
  • 1366 x 768 resolution display
  • Windows 8.1 (!!!) – technically you can still upgrade to Windows 10, but c’mon folks

Compare this to ASUS VivoBook 15.6" FHD, AMD Ryzen™ 3 3250U, 4GB DDR4 RAM, 128G SSD, Slate Gray, F512DA-WB31, which is somehow $20 cheaper, with a SSD (albeit smaller, but still usable), a 1080p display and a processor made in the last year that will run circles around a processor that would run circles around the processor in the Acer laptop here. That was literally just the first example I found but there are better laptops out there for the price.

DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP. IT IS GARBAGE

See the comments above why this is not a “deal”

On Dell’s refurb site, $272 will currently get you double the RAM, a much faster CPU, a 256GB SSD, a larger screen, much better performance, and a lightweight case. Hard pass.
