Unsolicited testimonial: These are bad-ass blenders. The tall blade column does better than standard blenders in making sure everything gets chopped, and that the solids don’t stay at the top.
It really does crush ice.

I concur. Badass!! I paid way more for mine. I even use it to grind meat if I have a roast. Little prep work, bam! Great chili!

I can second this testimonial. We got this same blender from Costco and it crushes making smoothies.
