The ones made here like the Teledyne FLIR Series cost upwards of $400. These consumer items sold on Amazon and Woot are all made in China at a price point people can afford.
Some folks want to blame them for making them. But that serves no useful purpose, just as the Europeans had to accept that American assembly lines undercut them a century ago.
