Don’t feel stupid… I fail to understand the shirt as well (I’m not saying that the shirt needs to be understood nor does it have to make sense it would just be nice if it did)

Houndstooth is a pattern, but he did a distressed single hound’s tooth as a play on a pattern. I think it was rather smart of him, even if many felt it didn’t play within the rules of the pattern derby.
I get it, it’s cute, I wouldn’t buy it, but I could see why someone may like it. Congrats!

I think the concept on this one is great, and I’d by buying if not for a dislike of white shirts (white on black, though, and I would have been ecstatic).
Though, do my eyes deceive me? The houndstooth seems bigger than I remember.

I almost didn’t get it, but then I got it.
Back in Windows 3.x, you used to be able design your own backgrounds using a small square of smaller squares, which you could change color, and make a repeating background. Houndstooth was one of the included patterns. I used to spend way more time than necessary playing around with it.
I’m sure it’s a regular pattern otherwise, too, but whatever.
