This is a great price for a 23" 1080p IPS display. Asus has a good reputation for making consistent performing low-cost monitors.

4 and 1/2 stars on the mothership, with nearly 700 reviews.

I’d be a little nervous about warranty support from the manufacturer for a refurbished display, but for this price, it’s worth the risk. If you prefer, you can buy a new display for $37 more.

The frame around the glass looks wonderfully thin. Even though the actual image won’t go all the way to the edge, the thin bezel with glass almost all the way to the edge gives the illusion that it’s borderless.

This is a glossy display, not matte.

I prefer integrated power supply rather than an external brick, but I imagine that’s what allows it to be so thin.

There are built-in speakers, but I wouldn’t use them (I expect them to sound much worse than those built into the MacBook). Luckily I don’t buy displays for the speakers.

Sadly, no VESA support (enabling a monitor arm) is a deal breaker for me.

Darn. No displayport. Oh well, have to use an adapter.

This is Acer, not Asus.

Would be all in if it was mountable, but of course not that lucky

There’s this:

VESA Mount Adapter

I can’t vouch for it, just happened to find it.

Nice find (the adapter for a VESA mount).

Just did the mental math though, and this monitor - $90, plus $25 for the adapter, plus $5 for Shipping, comes to $120.

Last week I was searching for a pair of matching wall-mountable monitors and found a few I was considering for $125.

So the math fails for me.

Bummer, this looked like a good pick-up…

I bought a refurbed LG ips monitor years ago on ebay and it still works fine today. I have a older Acer 23" monitor I bought at Staples, looked great even though it isn’t ips as long as your centered on screen and black levels were surprisingly good. It is slightly older then the LG monitor and still works great today as I passed it down to my sister.
I think Acer makes great competitively priced monitors so if your worried about the name or being refurbed I would just get it if it fits your needs. Usually any issues are going to show up right away and Acer still gives you a 90 day warranty on it.

No VESA mount == not worth buying
