My Patriot Supply Reviews

Looks like a Berkey knock-off. Good price and I’ve been thinking of buying a thing like this, but will probably go for a real Berkey. It’s 2x the price but more of a known quantity.

When you buy this from Patriots or Alex Jones, the filters are date-stamped to show freshness. Are these recently produced, or something that’s been sitting on a shelf for a long time?

Is it actually important that filters be “fresh”? Do they degrade just sitting on the shelf? What is the nature of such degradation? Do they oxidize? Cosmic rays? Or might being stored in a sealed inert-gas filled bag be more than enough protection…?

Bwahahaha!

Shouldn’t matter, they only start to degrade after they get wet. What I want to know, will the Burkey filters fit in this one?

FTR, replacement filters for these are $97 at the mothership.

Twice the price of Berkeley carbon mono block filters (because you get two for the same price)

They look to be a completely different size and shape so I would venture a guess that the answer is no.

Can’t recommend it. Got one last time around for 189. The filters crapped out and the metal started to rust within 2 weeks. Got a Berkey as a replacement and the quality is worlds apart.

In for one. I spend forty dollars a month on bottled watersince oour tap water is almost unpotable. This will pay for itself in three months. Thanks, Woot!

VOA? Voice of America?
I think you mean VOC.
Volatile Organic Compound.
Usually a molecule centered around Carbon,
With Hydrogen, Oxygen, Fluorine, Cl, Br, S, or N.
Think Love Canal, Fracking, MTBE, Gasoline, etc.
Now, since they failed to specify 'V.O.C.‘s’, I smell a Volatile Rat!
Show me the analysis!
The VOA appears to be a Bushel of Caca!

I was going to order a couple of these until I checked Woot! on ResellerRatings dot Com.
Not much good to day about this company. Have an issue with your product? YOUR SOL people!

I will still buy either the Alexapure or the Berkey, but not from Woot!

Both are China made…both show signs of rust over time…both are dependent on user maintenance…both use same filter technology. Unless you can find a comparable Berkey at the same price, this unit is a bargain. Spend the money to buy more filters and increase overall performance - just like the Berkey. They are competitive products. From my research I don’t see a product difference that warrants 85% price increase.

These are not from a reseller…they are new not refurbished.

I’ve bought from Woot for over three years and experienced only ONE issue that was promptly refunded w/return label. I buy TVs, computers, household items, Dyson, many tools/garden - don’t have complaints on Woot. Reseller ratings haven’t asked me about Woot.

They are shipped wet, sealed in a Mylar bag.
