If your system (laptop or other) does not have 802.11ac, OR you have issues with where your system is versus where you can get good wi-fi, then this is a good low priced solution. Woot should have made clearer that this is a wi-fi adapter with a USB extension cord and base to allow it to be distanced from the system is is used on. From the title one might think this is just a powered antenna, but it is more - it is a full operation adapter, it can be installed in a local USB port, or you can use the provided extension to get a better signal.
While it is not the “latest and greatest” wi-fi technology available, it is still bargain priced.
