Must be a pretty small mountain for the battery life to only be under 2 hours for a “Mountaineering” headlamp. It never ceased to amaze me how marketing either has never been out of their concrete jungle much less their building to push this as a headlamp used for mountaineering.
I’ve owned one of these for several years, and used it to summit Mount Whitney in 2019. The two hour life ONLY applies if you turn it all the way up. This headlamp throws a LOT of light and it’s rare that I’ve needed it that high. Most of the time I keep the brightness at about 30% which is great for camp and trail use, and which gives me about a 12 hour run time on a set of AAA’s.
My only real complaint about the headlamp is that it’s a bit on the bulky side, which can get a little uncomfortable after a few hours. The fix? Wear a beanie or something under it.
