Amaze-Heater 600W MAXI Room Heater

Amaze-Heater 600W MAXI Room Heater

This looks like a nice product for supplemental heating. I have a couple of points to make. First, there is no thermostat on these units. The maker’s website has this line in the product description:
“Optional Thermostat available at a very low cost in most of the outlets selling our heaters.”
Really? Well, with the most powerful one only 600 watts, it’s not going to make a huge difference in a room, but to have to turn it on or off as you need to keep the comfort level you want is just crazy in this day and age. Sure, it’s going to be very hard to have an integrated thermostat that accurately reflects the room temperature since the whole heater body will be far above room temps, but I have an oil filled heater that has a thermostat to vary it’s power setting as needed and it works fine. This is an important feature to leave out.
Secondly, the copy says it doesn’t dry the air. Physics are the same no matter what the marketing material says. If you heat air, the water content will stay the same, but warmer air can hold more water, so we say the relative humidity has fallen, which is what dries out our eyes and skin. True, with this small a heater, the effect will be minor but you will feel that the air is dryer if it does succeed in warming the air.
