I’m on the list for the Echo car. Hope it’s small

Beware of purchasing Echo devices from Woot. I got mine and attempted to set it up. I had to call Amazon customer service and when I gave the DSN number on the device to the rep, she told me it was an invalid device meaning it had been recorded as missing, undelivered, lost, or stolen. I’ve since put in for a refund from Woot. Such a disappointment.
I have set up several Dots and many Fire tablets with no problems. This Echo was not so easy for some reason. Took me several tries, manually, but I finally did it. Not sure what the problem was (maybe it was updating the firmware??). Anyway works fine, looks brand new (came in a sealed box), and arrived day after I purchased it, nice.
A day later Amazon contacted me and was able to register the device to my account. I don’t know why it took a day but eventually it did work and I have decided to keep the Echo.
Just got mine today… Amazon wouldn’t register it as it was reported Stolen… Woot selling stolen property?
Definitely not knowingly. We get these from Amazon. I think they can’t check for that unless it’s registered to someone. Maybe?
Either way, please use the Woot Customer Service form for assistance.
Yeah I called them and woot is out of echos… I’ll hold on to it before returning it if woot can work this out with Amazon.
This same thing happened to me, I bought 2, one white one black and Amazon confirmed via the DSN (Device serial number) that both were reported lost/stolen. The white unit seems to be irreversibly locked because it is supposedly already registered under someone’s name, which is odd because this appeared to be a brand new unit. Amazon was able to unlock the second unit. Very disappointing because now the white units are sold out and I cannot get a replacement. Very strange that units that were distributed to woot by Amazon themselves were not ensured to be ready for sale and even more odd that they are claiming their hands are tied because the device has been registered to someone else.
I hope woot can work this out with Amazon… woot should be able to speak to the right person at Amazon to get this worked out since they are their parent company. I’ll call woot on this coming week. Really bad on Amazon… I don’t feel like woot is the issue just amazon… really thinking about going to just Google device at this point due to customer service on Amazon part… I don’t need prime
