Is the Slate color the HD Plus version?
What gives you that idea?
According to Google, Fire HD 10 Plus was available exclusively in a soft-touch “Slate” gray finish.
The slate color one I bought on Woot several years ago was indeed the 4 GB HD 10 plus. Just be aware that the app store is pretty much withered and left to rot by Amazon choice and developer abandonment. They deprecated their app coin system as well.
The 10 and 10+ are great for viewing film, reading Kindle books, listening to audible. The 10+ marginally faster but with so few apps it is not great. The MediaTek MT8183 / Helio P60T CPU is relatively old even in the 10+. Antutu score of 140,000 to 170,000 .
However. If you have a use for the above three Amazon supported functions, then great. Just be aware that Amazon is going to a new OS and has given up on its app store. You cannot get even Chrome or other browsers that are trustworthy from their store. The only antivirus that you can get are bitdefender and ESET which are decent. If you need updated versions of Zoom, Go to Meeting, or WebEx, their support maybe ending or is already ended. They stopped supporting Hulu, Paramount plus, and Disney on Amazon Fires that do not support the equivalent of Android 5.5. Two of the streaming services are no longer working on the 2019 Fire 10 i also bought.

True about the App Store. If you have paid for any premium apps through the Amazon App Store, and recently tried to find them to install on a new device, you have likely already felt the loss and abandonment.
I bought this 2021 release when it came out, and it was a series of fails and disappointments. The bluetooth never worked right; wouldn’t even connect to the Amazon keyboard made for the tablet. Then at some point, its wifi connection died. It is stuck forever in 2022, and cannot communicate or stream.

It may be frowned upon saying this here, but there’s a toolbox that works on Fire tablets up to the 2023 version that greatly increases the things you do above the decaying Amazon ecosystem.
Also, the Slate is probably the Plus version, which I would recommend for the extra 1 GB of RAM and wireless charging. Often it’s the charging port that breaks on these things.

Indeed. We have an kids Fire Tablet my daughter uses, and the poor state of the app store is truly staggering. Worse, it’s been “closed” on non-Amazon Android devices for a year now, yet it still drags on like a zombie for Fire tablets since Amazon refuses to officially support the Google Play store (yes, I know there’s other ways to get it on the tablet). You can’t even upload new apps to the store anymore.
It’s really sad. The sooner Fire OS is dead and buried the better, we need that rather than trying to deal with this decaying husk.

The fatal flaw was Amazon wanted a walled garden with apps that needed the Amazon app store to vett the DRM for the app to work. In many fremium games with reward systems via ads, Developers found coding to incorporate this routing to Amazon servers to be a chore and the remuneration by Amazon to be not worth the effort. They refused to support the Amazon versions or code new Amazon server compatible versions.
More and more developers stopped updates. People who purchased apps and in aop upgrades eventually found they didn’t work anymore compared to updated versions from the Play store. The old versions from Amazon no longer supported new features that were deemed critical for security or functionality. That included Hulu and Disney Plus recently as well as even Netflix on older models.
I learned all this from Amazon tech support. There was nothing they could do. Their servers and the forced curation to run apps was central to their business model and got in the way to the point of collapse.
Only slate version is HD10 plus version or any other colors can be too?
