Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet (2021)

I just received my tablet and I am a bit confused. I know this was listed as refurbished, but I thought Woot would generally say in the listing if that specifically meant you could be getting a scratched/dinged piece of merchandise, and it didn’t in this listing. I can’t say I’m thrilled about how scratched up this is, even at this price.

Hello. Refurbished items can have some scratches but none that should hinder usability.

If you’re unhappy though, reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).

Please allow 24-48 for them to respond.

Woot! $34.99 with FIREFIVE discount

Received next-day delivery from local Amazon fulfillment center. Arrived in like-new condition (Used:Very Good) and so far is working perfectly fine. Setup was typically easy and quickly added to the stable of Amazon devices. Intended to replace an older (2013) 10" Amazon Fire Tablet which is no longer receiving updates or support for the Fire OS or a number of its applications, but otherwise still humming along. This 2021 model with the $5 discount was a fraction of the 2013 model cost purchased new. Hopefully, Amazon doesn’t pull the plug on this one too soon.

It definitely looks like you got a dud. Hopefully, it was a one-off situation.

Mine arrived the other day in like-new condition (Used: Very Good), so hopefully Woot customer service can quickly ship you out a replacement in similar condition before they sell-out. Unless, of course, you prefer a refund at this point.

Belief or not. For so long refurbished didn’t have level ratings. Although, I for one was always to nick pick about the products received overall condition and found myself returning them until I received a quality product. I at one point even suggested scratch and dent products should specify that. Not long after Amazon products were starting to appear with such statements. Not to say I was the sole person pushing for a more accurate product conditions. Although, it was definitely a coincidence I do say. Now, I received mine. One was flawless front and back; the other had some imperfections on its back which definitely didn’t hinder functionality.

I have bought several of these from Woot. They have always been in Like New condition. You got a bad apple. Try getting a replacement before you give up.

Two issues:

  1. I just bought two and the FireFive discount did not apply. Is it no longer active?
  2. I have contacted woot at least four times over more than a month as to why the email address for my Prime account is not working with woot. Each time, there is a stupid, asinine woot message of “hold on … access to a party, …$20 bribe” that appears. Woot finally responded weeks later to my email telling me to log out of my woot account and log in again. I CAN’T LOG OUT BECAUSE I CAN’T LOG IN under my prime account. I explained the problem again in another email and it has been over a week and no response. This has been going on for well over a month and since there is no phone number, and the chat is always closed (I’ve checked on different days and different times of day), I had to create a new woot account with a different email address for this purchase.

Is there some way to actually speak with a woot representative to fix whatever the problem is with woot not accepting my Prime email address? I’ve been charged shipping which would have been free with my prime account

Hello.

  1. The FireFive promotion ended at midnight. So no longer active..

  2. As to the account, I’d need more information but my first guess is that your Amazon login is already assigned to another account.

If you want to private message me with more details (your Amazon email address, other email addresses used on woot), I’ll take a look along with CS.

To private message me, click on my name on this post and then click on Message in the box that pops up. To check your PMs, click on your avatar in the upper-right corner of any page and then click on the envelope in the menu that appears.

FYI: Amazon tablets, older ones using micro USB, were known for becoming unchargable due to fragile USB ports. I see this one has USB C, so hopefully that problem has been eliminated. I’d still be gentle with the port, just in case. Definitely don’t let the cable torque on it.
Fire tablets are great for watching movies, reading, email, social media, web surfing and basic gaming. Their cameras aren’t great, their hardware can’t handle today’s demanding games and their app store sucks but google play apps can be side loaded.

Use .magnetic charging cables. The micro USB or USB C plug stays in the port. The cable attaches magnetically, hence no torque on the charging port.

I ordered two which I received today and I am disappointed in the condition of both. Scratches on both, one scratch deep enough that I can feel the edges of each side, dirt inside the surrounding seam of both. Under no circumstances would either qualify as “like new”. I contacted support for a return and replacement in better condition. We’ll see.

Just got one of these delivered. This is not at all what I would consider a refurbished product. The screen is covered in scratches, the back plastic of the device is cracked, and the volume adjust buttons literally fell off as I pulled it out of the packaging. The speaker ports are caked with dust/grime and you can see more around the seam where the screen is glued to the rest of the tablet body.

This looks like someone sent this tablet as a trade-in and literally nothing was done to it before being repackaged and sold again. I wouldn’t be surprised if the battery didn’t hold a charge.

I received one with pretty extensive screen scratches; Customer Service promptly sent another which is ok. The first was definitely “Scratch and Dent” condition.

But the packages of both were marked “Used --Acceptable” rather than “Refurbished.” I think there’s a disconnect here.

I’ll be checking the battery to make sure it’s reasonable…

checked with our team. They said that Amazon is usually pretty good with refurbs and they were surprised by the feedback so far. We do have plenty for replacements though.

Mine is labeled Used: Very Good and is basically in like-new condition. Nothing says anything about being refurbished, but it arrived in fresh packaging and presented as new so it obviously went through some sort of refurbishment. Arrived next-day delivery from my local fulfillment center. So far, so good.

UPDATE: Woot issued me a refund for both tablets due to the poor condition of both. However, I requested replacements. I wonder if the quality of the remaining tablets is what I and a couple of other customers here have described, and that is why I received a refund.
