Based on my previous purchase of HDX7 from woot, the unit is actually unlocked.
However, I am leaning towards believing in luck of the draw. Firstly, this is a different model and there has been statement in the past from Woot staff that the unit is locked.
Even so, there is always third party that can provide you with the unlocking code for about 10 bucks.
This is pretty old, but it runs CM, has a powerful enough processor and okay amount of memory. The screen is incredible and has stereo speakers with hdmi out. I have project fi so hoping this is unlocked so I can pop in a data only sim. Can anyone confirm? Seems like a steal if so.
Can be bought today on Ebay used from a reputable seller for $53 including shipping. Good luck buying it here and selling in a few months without much loss.
I used to have net10 on my LG G2. My wife currently has it for her Nexus 5x. We liked the service as far as coverage, data speeds and price. However, I could never get tethering to work on my LG G2 even after installing a ROM that supported it. I also used net10 for 1 month after purchasing my Nexus 6p which has tethering feature already built into the stock ROM. It still wouldn’t work. It’s defintely not the phone either since tethering now works on the project fi mvno. To sum things up, I doubt you could use it as a hot spot with a net 10 sim.
yes the design is 5 years old. But its a great ips screen at 1920x1200. Most low-mid level tablets today only goto 1280 x 800. If you’re not gaming, this is still a greate tablet. Besides, it probably not physically 5 years old. Something more recent i’ll expect. I plan to put Cyanogen rom on it.
Has anyone had luck getting prime videos to play on these refurbished fire tablets? I’ve bought 2 different 7" hdx models from this site and both times got an error when trying to play prime video content. Amazon support said they were not able to fix either.
I got one during the last round after some research. The screen is great, the speakers are nice and all that. Great battery life as well.
But the OS is just horrible and the Silk Browser is a joke. Otherwise, a pretty capable well make unit.
