Just one caveat, I have a similar case for my gen 3 Amazon Kindle HDX 8.9, and similarly this one offers little to no impact protection.

If you plan to read in a tornado or other situations where your Kindle is likely to slip and fall, you may as I did end up with a hairline crack in your screen after a less than one foot drop onto a carpeted floor.
