Antop AT-500SBS 80-Mile Amplified HDTV/FM Antenna

Antop AT-500SBS 80-Mile Amplified HDTV/FM Antenna

To make sure people are informed, the Amazon reviews are shared with 13 other items. Most of the reviews are for a simple mounting mounting pole and not the antenna.

I personally would like to buy a better antenna for OTA. Anyone have real experience with this one?

Reviews on this brand of antennas are pure junk. Most are for other products.

Note the shopping channel… $80, but includes a 5 year warranty!

THIS is the actual model on Amazon, just a different color. $79.99

The reviews on all these are a mixed mess of ANTOP products.

There are lots of variables when it comes to antennas. It can work great for one person and horrible another. Where you live and the terrain is the biggest factor. Weather factors, clouds and wind actually affect reception but are passing. There are web sites that supply the advice based on where you live. Basically You have to be in line of sight of the transmitter with no hills, mountains or even trees in the way.

Do some research on either rabbit ears or tvfool to see what you are likely to get and what type of antenna you need. Do NOT blindly buy and antenna.

Tsigwing was right on and do check tvfool. But just head to Amazon and buy a cheap Mohu antenna first to try. Usually around $20. Most of the time that will be the best you can get. And yes an antenna outdoors or in the attic is far better, but not needed unless you are a long way from a big city. And best of all 90% of the channels you will get are Spanish or religious. For some reason, those come in crystal clear.
