Anyone know anything about GPS?

Does anyone know anything about GPS devices? Woot! keeps advertising the Navigon unit, which looks really cool, but I hear so much good stuff about Tom Tom and Garmin I do not know which device I should buy? Which Garmin or Tom Tom. I don’t need all the bells and whistles but I do need turn-by-turn with audible. I don’t have a cell phone (gasp, it’s true) so I don’t care about that feature.

I know squat about fizziks, chemistry and GPS units. I do remember there was a thread with people discussing GPS units on woot, that’s unfortunately even older than I am, though.

thanks, but that thread appears to be a little old (until you started it again. Great finding skills. I hear all sorts of good stuff about garmin but what about woot’s navigon?
