Performance in 2026

The Intel Core i5-5257U is now over a decade old.

    Buy If

    • Under $300

    • Battery health verified

    • You need basic web and office use

    • You specifically want a legacy Intel Mac

    Consider Carefully

    • $300–400 range

    • Excellent condition

    • New battery installed

    Avoid

    • $500+

    • Unknown battery health

    • Unknown refurbishment process

    • Any expectation of long-term use

For $592.76, would not recommend purchasing this MacBook Pro in 2026.

The machine itself is a respected model with good build quality and a great display, but the combination of:

    • 11-year-old hardware

    • 8GB non-upgradable RAM

    • 128GB SSD

    • Ended software support

    • Battery aging risk

    • Significantly inflated asking price

makes it a poor value proposition today.

this price must be a mistake. this would be a sweet computer $250 tops imo. this was a great model and still holds up today with nice ports, great screen, and great screen, but it’s not a $600 computer. its something you buy to play with
