Apple 13.3" 512GB MacBook Air (2020)

Apple 13.3" 512GB MacBook Air (2020)

Unless you really NEED an Intel processor, RUN! 90 day warranty?

Go for a basic M1 MB Air, no fan, much faster, 1 year plus AppleCare option = 3 years.

Thank you! Do you have a suggestion for 1 for a teen going off to college in the fall?

Something with 16GB of ram and a 512GB SSD would do the trick - depending on his area of study; he might be ok with 8GB of ram.

according to specs, this model supports up to 16GB RAM, FWIW. 8GB RAM is bare minimum these days, IMO.

Ram is not upgradable though

Here is my review of the M1 MB Air, 512 GB; 8GB RAM.
I would max out the RAM to 16 GB and get at least 512 in storage. The more the better for future value. You can use external storage for media, but get as much as you can afford. Remember, you can get “Apple Education Pricing” through the Apple Computers for Education site.

If your teen will be doing lots of Photoshop of Video Editing, maxing it out is even more important.

BTW, a fan-less MB Air, M1 is expected to last longer than the MB Pro, because there is no airflow to bring dust into the computer. In my experience, the quietness and how cool the M1 runs makes a HUGE difference.
