Apple 13" i5-3210M Macbook Pro Laptop

A 6-year-old computer. Well, if you don’t have a Mac already and are on a budget, sure. I’m typing this on a 2012 MacBook Air. If it broke, I might jump at this deal. But odds are you’ll want something newer than 6 years old, and if you can afford a newer unit, to get that instead.

Not bad for a 6-year old laptop. I’m typing this from a MacBook Pro of an identical vintage (albeit with a better processor). This is the last model of MacBook Pro with user upgradable RAM and HDD/SSD. This model can actually take up to 16GB of RAM (official specs say 8GB, but the chipset can address up to 16GB). The SSD can be upgraded as it’s a SATA connector. The optical drive (who the heck still uses those?) also interfaces with SATA, so you can swap the optical drive for a second hard drive or SSD with a caddy.

The ones that came after this model are the ones where Apple started soldering things in.
