As of June 2024, it does not support the latest iPadOS 18.
The Apple 9.7" iPad 6 (2018 model) supports up to iPadOS 17, but it is not compatible with iPadOS 18. It originally shipped with iOS 11.3 and can be upgraded to iPadOS 17.

The 32 GB is a deal breaker but I don’t think iOS 18 is a deal breaker at this. I guess that’s the downside with Apple over Android if this were an Android tablet even once the last version of Android goes you still get quarterly Google Play service app updates
I have this and a pixel 2xl, I think they’re from around the same year. The iPad got a security update less than a month ago, the pixel last got any sort of update back in 2020
Something like this would make a great interface or viewer for something.
I bought a ThinkSmart View about a year ago and I run a viewer for security cameras on it.
Not quite as versatile as an Android device from a hacking standpoint, but still plenty of uses.
I have an ipad 2 i use as a digital frame, luckily security updates dont mean anything if its perpetually offline. Taking mobile devices apart and putting then back together was my breadwinning job for 3 years, so I even have some parts handy incase the battery decides to start expanding or if the 30pin charger stops working.
But this just reinforces my previous statement…PLEASE somone buy my e-waste so my wife can hassle me less about it being in the home somewhere 
These are barely useable anymore,even for a kid. They really really low on RAM for todays apps so you’ll experience lots of apps freezing until you free up some memory.
Still getting security updates.
