In terms of refurbished units, what are the condition of these? Also, are they factory refurbished with Woot warranty or third-party? If the latter, who is the refurbisher?
$349 new at Target (Sunday flier today)
iPad trivia for the day: the iPad Mini screen has the highest pixel density of any iPad, including the Pros. As it did on the iPad Mini 2, 3, and 4 generations. 326 pixels per inch vs 264 ppi for all other current iPads, including the Pros.
Why is the iPad Mini 5 7.9 (Spring 2019) $399 MSRP priced higher than the mainstream iPad 10.2 (Fall 2019) $329 MSRP?
- A12 vs. A10 cpu. Although most folks won’t feel the performance difference, this gives you likely another couple years of operating system updates.
- 64 GB storage vs. 32 GB. Last time I looked, IOS takes up about 13 GB.
- Nicer front camera - 8 megapixel vs 1.2 for sharper FaceTime or Skiyping.
- Bluetooth 5.0 vs. 4.2
All current iPads have Apple Pencil capability - but you have to be careful to get the matching Pencil model - 1st or 2nd generation.
On the downside if it matters, the iPad Mini is the only current iPad without Smart Keyboard capability.
This WOOT! refurb, as is typical unless it is a “scratch & dent”, does not describe the condition. And it includes unknown quality aftermarket charger and cable rather than the OEM Apple stuff. iPads do not come with headsets unlike iPhones. This iPad does have a 3.5mm headset jack.
$339 refurb on Apple site comes mint, like new, with one year warranty.
Worth spending $10 more.
It’s also a laminated display with True Tone.
$10 more for a factory recertified unit with a one year warranty? That’s enough right there for me to make this a hard pass.
Same exact price on the mothership for a brand new unit.
