What does scratch and dent actually mean?
What has been the success with using these phones on the Verizon network? I see that it is unlocked, but made for the ATT/T-Mobile system.
where is square deal? In the past I took a chance with these phones by purchasing the woot square deal but its nowhere to be found today.
It’s there but you need to be on a device that works with Flash. Blame SqTr. We asked for a non-Flash version.
The iPhone 6S (and Plus) are global phones that should work with any carrier. I recently bought a used 6S Plus from a personal friend who had purchased it new through T-Mobile and I was able to activate it on Verizon after getting it “unlocked” from T-Mobile. Apparently Apple controls an “Activation Server” that the phone has to go through when being activated on any carrier. In order to “unlock” a phone from a specific carrier, that carrier has to identify it as such on Apple’s activation server. I guess (and I mean GUESS, because I don’t know for sure) that is how they can control people activating phones on other carriers when they are still under contract with another carrier - or have an outstanding bill with them - or if the phone is stolen. In my case, my friend DID have an outstanding balance, so HE had to call T-Mobile and get that settled - and then request that the phone be “unlocked” - which they say takes 24-48 hours. The next day, I tried to activate it on Verizon and it worked just fine.
Bottom line, there is nothing in the hardware of these phones to prevent them from working on either a GSM or a CDMA network, but the carriers still have some control over them via that activation server. You can buy an “unlocked” version of the phone directly from Apple - and my guess (again) is that this is simply a phone that has not been assigned to any carrier in this activation server.
That’s my $0.02… YMMV.
Just received my phone, for a 2 year old phone I give it a 7.5/10
Performance is great, battery life will have to get tested over time.
Back casing has hardly any noticeable wear.
My only complaint is that the screen was much more worn than I had thought it would be in, for such an expensive phone.
Saddens me when people don’t take care of their possessions when it costs 5 bucks to protect a screen as soon as you get it, but owell.
Hoping for the best that the phone remains working well and the battery is is good enough condition to last a while!
