Apple Laptops & All-in-Ones

There is currently a lawsuit surrounding the Early 2011 MacBook Pro laptops due to issues with the graphics processing that Apple has refused to address. Some of these machines (at least thousands, perhaps more) have required logic board replacements at $300-600+ apiece, and many of those replacements fail again after a little while because they’re refurbished boards. I’d be very cautious about purchasing one of these. Sadly, I already own one… and it’s on its fourth logic board.

The issue you are referring to affects early 2011 15" MacBook Pros with discrete AMD 6750m graphics. The machine on sale is the last of the unibody, polycarbonate MacBooks (13", not Pro). These machines have the Nvidia 320m graphics processor, which share 256MB from the main RAM.

While I agree that Apple should address this motherboard issue (I’m not an owner, but I signed the petition), it doesn’t mean you should crap on this white MacBook, as it’s not related.

My only concern with this particular sale is that this Mac is not factory refurbished, but I can at least crack it open to update the RAM and stick in an SSD.

Fair word of warning to all looking at the mid-2010 Macbook - running Mavericks on it is a real stretch. I own the same model, and upgrading to Mavericks has me shopping for a new machine.

13.3 MacBook when you read about the Features it says that 2gb memory but specs and description say 4gb memory. I want to know how much memory it has?

Sorry for the confusion. Vendor says 4GB.

There are three 15" Early 2011 MBPs with the questionable 6490M/6750M discrete GPUs featured in this sale, all sold out now. I’m not sure where you got the idea that I was talking about a 13" MacBook.

I am running this same model upgraded to SSD and 8 gb of RAM and can run Yosemite with no issue. Very responsive and 15 second boot, sure beats buying a whole new Macbook Pro.

Sorry, I guess I didn’t see the 15 inchers on the sales page. I will be more careful before opening my virtual biscuit trap next time and again, my sincere apologies.

Sorry I’m just lazy but is it possible for Woot to upload a picture of the right side of the 13" MB?

Only see the left side with the MagSafe, USB ports, etetc.

What sort of packaging surrounds the refurbished mid-2010 Macbook? I’m giving as a gift and would like to know.

The weight of the White Macbook is 8.4 lbs under Specs.

Is woot! shipping 2 MacBooks with every order?
