Gotcha!

Here are my tasting notes from CT. This 2006 vintage was one the winners for the evening.

*9/28/2013 - I LIKE THIS WINE: (Edit) 92 Points
We had a wine tasting this past weekend and opened 7 bottles of wine including 3 Ardente Cabernet Sauvignon vintages. My wife, robertbramblett and his bride and my father-in-law accompanied me in this tasting that also included crackers with Boar’s Head cured sausage, hummus, an assortment of cheeses, strawberries and raspberries. Every bottle was decanted in the traditional manner and was then poured through a Soirée Bottle Top Wine Aerator. Here are our notes from our tasting:

1997 Ardente Espressione Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak Napa Valley, Grand Reserva
Color: brown/red or brackish with a lot of sediment. Orange was also used to describe the color.
Nose: sweet, deep woody, tobacco, blueberry, raspberry, leather, cedar
Palate: very smooth, strawberry, mildly fruity

2002 Ardente Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak Napa Valley, Grande Reserva
Color: burgundy, crimson, brown
Nose: cherry, strong, fingernail polish
Palate: full-bodied, creamy texture, cherry, tart

2006 Ardente Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak Napa Valley, Grand Reserva
Color: purple/red, plum
Nose: sweet, cherry, strawberry, oak, nutmeg
Palate: full-bodied, strawberry, fruit forward

2010 Elevensance Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Reggae Red Napa Valley
Color: plum
Nose: plum, oak, buttery, strawberry, vanilla, gardenia
Palate: fill-bodied, tart, green apple, sweet

2009 Kent Rasmussen Petite Sirah Esoterica Chavez-Leeds Vineyard
Color: plum, deep purple, cherry
Nose: grape vinegar, candy, dirt, earthy, leather
Palate: dry, tart, pepper, coffee, espresso

2010 Miner Family Pinot Noir “777” Rosella’s Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands
Color: translucent, strawberry, peachy, red
Nose: candy, flowers, tobacco, orange blossoms, sharp, grapes, red berries
Palate: tangy, sweet, cherry, tart, tall & skinny

2005 JanKris Estate “Picaro” Paso Rables
Color: light, translucent
Nose: strawberry, light, red berries
Palate: pepper, black current

Pulling lots of corks and incorporating different types of food made for a memorable experience and we all can hardly wait to do this again. The favorite of the night was the 2010 Elevensance Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Reggae Red Napa Valley followed by the 2006 Ardente Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak Napa Valley, Grand Reserva.*
