Any SoCal wooters willing to split? Curious about this AZ thing…

Well, here you go!

Where’s berrybuzz?

Great minds!

Yay! Ask and ye shall receive. Thanks Woot!

We had a bottle of 2012 Arizona Stronghold Magnus one day last week with dinner. On opening, I found it to have a very robust nose of vibrant fruit, dark cherries, accompanied by a prominent spicy note, like cloves or cinnamon.
The first taste seemed much lighter than I was expecting, but still the predominance of cherries. We had found a couple of Québec-style meat pies we found at a bakery in Vineland, Ontario the weekend before, and I thought this wine was a perfect accompaniment, smooth and flavorful, with a nice finish, and plenty of backbone to stand up to the rich, spicy meat pie. A very enjoyable wine with our midweek dinner, and at this price, it’s a steal.

I think you’ll like this one. At 12 bucks a bottle shipped, it’s pretty irresistible, even though we already have so much more wine than we can drink.

An appropriate song to listen to while drinking this wine.

Last week ddeuddeg & I tasted the 2012 Arizona Stronghold Mangus. We had tasted a few of the Arizona Stronghold wines at the pre-RPM Tour Get Together. I was interested in checking out this vintage. This wine had a nose of cherries and red stone fruits. It was ruby red in color and a very fruit forward wine with a medium finish. It is made of 62% Sangiovese,
13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petite Verdot,

We paired it with tortière (a Canadian meat pie made with beef and pork) that we picked up last weekend in a little shop at one of the Icewine stops, carrots and a new quinoa dish with Brussels Sprouts, sweet potatoes, maple syrup, dried cranberries, slivered almonds and chopped cilantro. I added a little maple syrup to the top of the tortière because that is how it is served in Québec at the sugar shacks and makes it oh, so yummy! There were a lot of flavors in this meal and the wine held up to them. I have to say that I really enjoyed this wine. It is not an extremely complex wine, but it is a nice wine—a good, every day drinker.

On the other hand, I don’t need to worry about that, now that I’ve noticed NY is not on the ship-to list. :frowning:

I buy woot wine all the time, and this looks like something worth trying. So, placed my order, and… what?!? Whadda ya mean ‘wine can’t be shipped to this state’??? You ALWAYS ship to my State! Is Arizona embargoing NY for some NY Wine Missil crises that went unreported because it was a busy news day for the Kardashians? Is it something NY said? Why am I being punished like this… whimper

Well they just split in '14 so James was around for this vintage. Looks like they aren’t friends anymore.

I think it’s that Arizona Stronghold doesn’t have a license for NY, because this is the case each time their wines are offered. Bummer.

Wot, no love for NYers today?

Decided to take the plunge after much hemming and hawing, and come to find out they can’t ship to Georgia. Gdi.

Me, too! What’s up you can’t ship to Montana either?!
