Note Price Drop!

Not compatible with Comcast speeds higher than 25 mbps, you’ve been warned. 6141 or newer will work fine

Sorry, 100% false.

I used an SB6121 with Comcast Blast service for years. It maxes out at ~ 150 Mbps or so.

Motorola spin off.
I experienced a significant decline in quality and duration!

If it is DOCSIS 3.0 it should handle up to 150Mb at a minimum. If it has more than 4 channels it will be more.

Is the price drop on these modems a result of a DOCSIS 4.0 just around the corner?

I have the 6121 and it has worked fine with Xfinity for a couple of years. Comcast has notified me recently that it is no longer “supported” and I’m not getting max possible speeds. Haven’t noticed any discernible issue as of yet.

No. DOCSIS 3.1 is currently undergoing final testing/approvals and one or two modems will soon be available that support it. But, they will be very expensive for a long while, and only necessary if you’re getting the even more rare “Gigabit” service from your cable provider.

He is talking about upstream speeds.

And a SB6121 is only a 4x4 channel modem. There is no way I would invest in one at this point. Here in TWC MAXX land we need a 16x4, like the 6183 to get the full speed available.

From the vendor:
The SB6121 is 4x4 Modem will support Cable Internet plans of 50Mbps and below, possible 100Mbps.

I have this model modem. If internet provider service is interupted and then later reinstated; my modem will not operate again until it is rebooted.

Very annoying.

This modem on TimeWarnerCable will only support 60Mbps https://www.timewarnercable.com/content/dam/residential/pdfs/support/internet/spp-compatible-modems.pdf

Be aware that the SB6121 and SB6141 ARRIS models are at the end-of-life and Comcast no longer supports those models.
