I currently have a WD N600 connecting to my Time Warner supplied modem. I am also using a couple of wifi extenders to try to get full wifi coverage in my house. However, I’d like to put a second router in the basement. I have a cat 5e cable running from my current router to the basement.

Could I either move my N600 down there and use this to replace both it and the modem on the entry point, or put this in the basement receiving the cat5e from upstairs? I want to make both be transmitting as the same WiFi point, but I no virtually nothing about setting this stuff up. Other suggestions?

This could take the place of your TWC supplied modem and wireless router.

BUT, could I then hardline connect the N600 as a second wifi point on the same network to give a bigger wifi bubble?
