I have this same model board, in a gaming system I built in 2018. The single NVME SSD slot is on the underside of the board.
AM4 probably takes the record for having the longest supported CPU socket.
(Socket 775 also spanned a lot of years, but it was split between early and later generations. Early P4 was not compatible with later C2D, and vice versa.)
It’s a great socket. On the previous AM3 platform I actually used a CPU long enough to kill one board (power supply after 6+ years) and then stuck it in an AM3+ for a couple more years. And Micro Center is selling the Ryzen 5 5500 for only $70 if you want a nice start to a budget system! (You may have to update the firmware; mine is pegged to an earlier version to support my Ryzen 5 2600, but I’m sure this is much newer stock.) But DDR4 memory’s not a bargain right now, if you don’t have some leftover from another project or given by a friend.
P.S. For anyone thinking about this as a first hobby build, go ahead and use a PCIe 4.x rated NVRAM SSD; they are probably cheaper than any remaining 3s and will work fine. You won’t get the speed benefit of one rated for 5, so don’t pay that premium. And I use a 550W power supply; anything between that and 750W should be fine unless someone gives you a monster GPU.
