Astella Fillable Bronze Umbrella Base

Useless. Don’t waste your money. The plastic is too thin to hold the weight of even a lightweight umbrella. It just bends over.

Did you fill it with 50lbs. of water or 50 lbs. of sand? I would think 50lbs. of sand would be heavier. Or maybe 50lbs of feathers?

It’s Back to School time! Well, 50 lbs of water and 50 lbs of sand weigh the same, because they are both 50 pounds. I’m sure this container wouldn’t hold 50 lbs of feathers though, since the volume of feathers would be too great for the size of container. That being said, I have no idea whether this container would tip or not. Depends on the wind speed and the container thickness, durability, brittleness, and strength.

Purchased this in August 2017 from Woot. Used it once or twice last year. Set it up for the first time this year. Put the Umbrella in in and within 15 minutes the umbrella was leaning precariously against the house. The base had completely failed. The plastic it is made of is not strong enough to hold the umbrella upright. NO wind outside. DO NOT BUY. Lucky the umbrella is not broken. Will look for a better quality base.

Container does not tip, it folds in half from the weight of the umbrella. 50 lbs of anything is enough weight to keep the base on the ground.
