Dose anyone know if the HDMI will also play audio?

fyi - i bought the a10 w/ 12GB last month and had to ship it off to asus for repair (bad memory). they were good about RMA with prepaid shipping label. But i have zero hours of actual use since purchase (not returned by asus yet).

Their spec sheet doesn’t say anything about this, but as a machine aiming to be a media center, I would really hope it does audio over HDMI. Their FAQ page for the machine seems to imply that it does Dolby Digital and DTS.

I’m tempted to buy one of these and get a better graphics card that’s part of a Mother’s Day sale. But, I’m not sure how much room there is for a new graphics card.

Yes, HDMI includes both video and audio signals. Both signals are carried over a single cable.

I am on the fence with this one. Decisions, Decisions…

Seems like there might be windows update issues.

Pls note that the NewEgg link is for a Grade B refurbished (nearly scratch & dent) vs ours which is GRADE A (nearly new).

Oh, how cuddly cute!

*** BANG!***

Well, I was going for the getting off the fence thing…

So, I’m in the early stages of building my first home theater where I plan to run some sort of HTPC (never done this before). I would probably do some gaming, but I’m certainly NOT a gamer so not needing some crazy gaming machine. Would this work as a decent theater computer? I would likely get a tuner card like the hauppage WinTV card and run Win Media center or KODI on this thing. Any idea how loud this is (fan noise)? I need opinions of those more informed than I…

I am especially fond of how the other panda kicks his butt back onto the fence to start the cycle again.

  • Jack Black… eat your heart out.*

This looks like an ideal computer for me, but I’d like opinions since I’m really not familiar with hardware technology.

I’m looking for a machine to do graphics and video editing using programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up (3d modeling). I don’t know about what video editing software I’ll use. I haven’t started that yet.

I know I’ll need a machine that can handle heavy graphics and sound. I only have a lap top and have been limited in what I can do.

I figured you were going for the make out panda session thing?

Id be more concerned with the power supply when upgrading the graphics card. Not many modern cards can run off a 300 Watt PSU, certainly not any higher end cards. If upgrading to what I would call a decent graphics card you would need to update the PSU also most likely.

Thank you.
