This is a decent Chromebook, especially as it’s the smallest, most portable one available. Two things though: avoid this specific one, it’s only got 2 GB of RAM. Performance on this C100 Flip is already modest with the higher-end model with 4 GB of RAM. As far as I’m concerned, 2 GB of RAM is too little for any ChromeOS or Windows system. Take my recommendation or avoid it at your own risk.
The second thing is that the direct successor to this device is now available, the C101 Flip, and is $300 new. Most importantly it’s got a faster CPU, but also USB Type C. If the C100 4 GB model is worth ~$200 (again, that’s not the version for sale here) then the refreshed/updated C101 is easily worth $300.
If you’re interested in a tiny, ultraportable 10" Chromebook I’d strongly suggest going with either the 4 GB C100 or the new C101, not the one for sale here.
I highly disagree, this model performs wonderfully (for the price). It will run all day on it’s battery and will also run android apps. Highly recommended!
Why so quiet for so long then?
One thumbs up from me. I got mine from the last time Woot put them up on sale. Was nervous about it lasting, but I’m still pounding out Comments right and left on it, several months later. For the price (IIRC, I paid about $20 more), it is an excellent buy. Not everyone needs something with breakneck speed, but just something that can check their emails and on which to watch an occasional how-to on YouTube (Rick and Morty).
Great little computer, however I had to return my first one due to a faulty touch screen that would not register touches. I then bought the 4gb version, and I have been very happy. Battery lasts a really long time, and the form factor is great. Chrome OS is not a memory hog, but 2gb is a little skimpy, but unless you overload, it will be adequate.
Sorry, you’re completely wrong. I’ve used dozens of Chromebooks with from 2-16 GB of RAM. 2 GB is simply inadequate, and that counts for Windows too. Sure, you can BOOT a modern PC with too little RAM, but performance is so unsatisfactory that it’s not worth your time, and the cost to get a model with 4 GB of RAM is too minimal to not be worth it.
