ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 Manual

I bought this unit for my mother last go around and it is VERY GOOD. The only flaw I found is with the CPU it cannot be upgraded to a higher OS other 4.2.xxxx While functional its annoying that you cannot update due to architecture. I rooted my mothers in the attempt, after much research it was the CPU limitation. Supposedly there releasing and update in the recent future

Anyone know if this can support an exFAT formatted MicroSD card? Also, is 32GB the confirmed max or might a 64GB work?

One more question… can someone confirm that this has integrated GPS? The Asus specs say “Supported” under navigation which is somewhat unclear.

Google Maps I would assume… Yes, that’s the GPS

Google Maps can use other things besides GPS for location services. Other Asus tablets on their web site show “GPS” or “GPS/GLONASS” under “Navigation”. That’s why I’m concerned.

What the heck does recent future mean?

“Supposedly there releasing and update in the recent future” = NEVER

It has GPS.

I’ve owned this for about 10 months and am very pleased with it. This is a great deal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tablet to anyone for this price (or the retail price for that matter).
To answer one of the prior questions, it goes have GPS. I regularly use a free GPS app with crowd sourced maps with no issues, and I’ve even been able to get a GPS lock in my house.

I bought this tablet for my son about 5 months ago. Refurbished, worked ok, plenty well for a 6 year old. It only had the 90 day refurbished warranty, and sadly 100 days in…it died. I’m not sure if there was a Square Trade warranty possibility for it, but I didn’t even consider it as other refurbished items I’ve gotten from Woot I’ve not had any issues with.
He was very careful with it, it never even left the house - as it was his first “your own responsibility” item. So then I had to explain that it wasn’t his fault - it was just his dad trying to save a few bucks. Ha!

I’m glad to see the poster before me has had his working fine for 10 months. So I guess I just got a bunk one.

Lol

I wonder how this would work as a WIFI only SKYPE phone for an overseas trip- has anyone tried to use as a phone ?

I used a similar ASUS tablet while on travel for work in Japan. Skype phone calls worked fine. I was able to call work, home, and the airlines to change my return flight. Video Skyping to my home computer was a little choppy, but I only have DSL at home (.75mps download/ .13mps upload).

With regards to the bluetooth keyboard. The notes say not to upgrade the OS, because 4.3 doesn’t support bluetooth. Has this been corrected yet?

This item is a total failure so far. I have submitted 3 complaints and requests for support and all have gone unanswered. The Asus Memo Pad HD 7 is a useless device at this point. Waiting impatiently for a reply. Customer service must be asleep.
