The wife replaced her tablet that somehow got broke with one of these. She LOVES it. It’s a laptop when she needs it and a tablet when she needs that.

I had one of these - loved it. I cracked the screen and had to turn off the touch capability to keep using it. Now I only like it.

Does this have fans, or is it passively cooled?

Comments on Amazon are not very good. Here is a link http://www.amazon.com/T100TA-C1-GR-Transformer-Detachable-Touchscreen-Refurbished/dp/B00U9X9OWI

There are only 3 comments (which is very strange by itself), and the bad ones had weird specific problems. The one positive review is well-written, but there’s only one. So basically the Amazon reviews are meaningless.

I bought one of these the last time they were on WOOT, and I’m loving it! I own a MacBook, a Chromebook, and two Galaxy Notes (8" and 12" Pro), and the Asus has become my “got to” device. It’s the best of both worlds! When I want to surf social media, I use it as a tablet with the apps. When I need a computer, click on the keyboard, and you’re good to go. Being that it runs Windows 8.1, you can do anything you can with a computer, because it IS a computer. But being able to take off the screen and work with the apps just makes it so much more versatile. And then there’s the touch screen…you don’t realize how much you miss one till you don’t have it. Thankfully, the Transformer does. At this price, buy one. I’m liking the whole Windows 8 experience so much, I’m actually considering a Windows phone…but, that could just be a phase.

Passive. It has a SSD, so no need for a fan, just like any tablet you might own.

If you need warranty work ASUS does not accept anything WOOT offers for proof of purchase. They want a receipt with a serial number on it, WOOT gives you neither. I just wanted them to fix mine, OFF THE WARRANTY, and they won’t because I can’t prove that I bought it.

QUESTION: If it brakes down with in the 90 day warranty …who do you bring it to for repair???

[MOD: You will contact Asus or a designated 3rd party if there’s paperwork in the box noting that.]

I bought one during a month or two back and I’ve enjoyed it. It was a semi replacement for an laptop my kid trashed and a cheap way to play with windows 8.

I also have an Asus Transformer with Andriod. I’ve found the Windows to behave pretty smoothly. The small amount of on board storage does mean you’ll have to do a bit of thumbdrive or cloud storage. I use portable apps on a thumbdrive to keep the space on the computer light.

All in all you can’t beat the price tag.

Two questions. Will it upgrade OK to Window 10? (put away your flamethrowers…)

Will it do native WiDi or Miracast?

Looking for something basic for my kiddo. Think this would handle minecraft okay?

I bought one about 3 weeks ago. Fantastic. Not as good as a Surface Pro or a Galaxy Tab. But for the price it can’t be beat. All the reviews even criticisms gave it a good overall rating. If you want both worlds add ANDY (Android emulation). Yes it can be upgraded to WIN 10. This unit has a full blown Win 8.1 OS. Nothing short in it.

Here’s one cheaper!

[MOD: That’s because it’s 32GB. Ours is 64GB.]

I am not a fan of Windows 8. Though I may be just old and stubborn.
Can this be Changed to an Android version?

Definitely works for MineCraft. I bought one of these last time it was on Woot ($209) and we love it. Surprisingly good performance from this little tablet. My son uses it for MS Office, streaming Netflix, surfing, etc.

That link is for a 32GB - this one on woot is a 64 GB
