Bamboo Knife Dock

I have one of these (wider though, fills most of the drawer) and just bought two more for our other place. The reasons that I like these:

  • doesn’t take up counter space. On the downside, It takes a few seconds longer to put the knives away than a block on the counter - so my good use-every-day knives are out and everything else goes in the drawer with the knife dock.
  • better for knives and safer for fingers than having them loose in the drawer. they also look pretty all lined up in the holder
  • can take all the weird sizes and extra fat handles plus can put them in closer together if they are skinny.
  • serrated knives go in fine, too
  • I have had mine for about a year with no sign of wear.

And so I say, Go forth, buy, and make Woot rich!

I know it’s cheesy but I can’t help it
“sittin on the dock o’ the blade,
Wastin tiiiiime”

I have always wanted a nice set of knifes any recommendations? Something I can have for life

no we don’t you made that up.

on 3/4/2012, you successfully wooted.

You want 1

Until now I’ve never heard the term “Knife Dock”, I feel so left out.

I actually had this in my shopping cart at Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday at $29.99. I put it back at the last minute - no real reason. Now I know — Someone mist have been watching out for me!

In for two.

Was it the gorillas?

Terrific item at a great price. Paid 2x this at Container Store. Sure, it takes up lots of room in the drawer, but then, so does any other proper knife storage system. Have had for 6+ months with no questions re: durability.

Thanks for the IKEA link:

That actually looks like it may hold a chef’s knife. Do you have a chef’s knife stored in your Ikea unit?

I’ve been using an Amerock Rack for my knives for more than 20 years. It works so well I’m astounded that they’re no longer on the market.

Hey, Woot! Use your market muscle to find someone making something like those!

Useful to keep that fixed knife blade down and still within reach and readily available by the bedroom alarm clock.

Besides knives, these might work well to store the more pricey, typical, bevel-edged wood chisels (like Pfeil, Robert Sorby, Two Cherries, Crown).

But, I don’t have any bamboo knives!

How about woot puts up some really nice Shun Knives!!! I haven’t seen those in forever. We don’t just need a block!

I’ve got hanging pots and pans for that, although in my whole life I’ve experienced one earthquake strong enough to notice (and set them off, waking me up). Kentucky is not a hotspot for those. Tornadoes we’ve got, but earthquakes are rare.

This made a world of difference in our utility drawer. Yes, we have a knife block. Yes, we have more knives than our knife block handles. Yes, this handles all the knives we don’t have in our knife block and does it well. No scrapes, no cut fingers, and best of all, less sharpening for knives dulled by rattling up against other utility ware in the drawer.

Oh, and it looks really awesome.

Thank for the info, Kingu. I keep some very sharp knives in the drawer, this looks like it will keep them separated, sharp and safe from fingers rummaging around in the drawer.

Grabbed 2 - worse case someones gonna end up with one for a present.

Ived used all kinds from “Old Hickory” to ceramics and for all around every day use I would recommend buying the “restaurant” knives with the white sure grip anti microbial handles at Sams - Costco probably has similar.

Very reasonable in price, you can put an edge you can shave with on’em and they are easy to clean/sanitize and they are really inexpensive.

Sams has the sizes ranging from the paring knife to a Santoku style butcher knife.

I’ve had a couple food professionals tell me they don’t use knife blocks because no matter how clean you get your knife, when you put it in a block, it’s covered in bacteria again. It’s obviously not a huge deal since most everyone has one, but if you want to be sanitary, a magnetic knife strip is the way to go.

Any knifes coming our way Home.Woot?? por favor
