Walk over to the Product Page w/ a couple reviews

Let’s learn why Bates is Honor Bound and learn all about the technology on this boot.

I’ll get this one out of the way right away… will these be good for my mother?

Right?!

We were totally waiting for the Norman jokes to spring up somewhere

LOL

why does the description say zipper side and the illustration show laces?
Inquiring minds want to know.

does it have both or just look like it has laces and is a big boy boot?

it has both!

Great looking, and need some good boots… so I was excited but I see no mention of being WATERPROOF :frowning:

This + Vibram + Gore-tex would be perfect. Pass.

EDIT: After further review of Bates’ boots, they have a Vibram+Gore-tex model, for $220. If only it was at this price…

are these steal towed?

Sadly, neither steel-toed or steal-towed, it seems

ha my stupid phone auto corrected to that. didn’t even notice though!

They’re black, therefore they’re tactical. Water resistance is futile.

Surely no master would wear Bate’s boots.

These boots are great. We use these at work and they are quite comfortable for a full shift.

The zipper on the side makes is MUCH easier to get these on, and then you also have traditional laces to get them as loose or tight as you like.

I would buy a pair, but work provides them…

I really, really don’t need another pair of boots, but I have to give them props for actually having small sizes. I’m a size 7 in women’s, and more often than not, I find men’s boots I like that are never small enough to fit me (5-5.5).

Every time I see “tactical” style boots I think of the militarization of our “peace officers”(sic) and the coming police state. Correction, we are already there…

would it work to spray these with one of those water repellent aerosols?

A lot of military wear these. I wore them the last last 8 years I was in the military and still did years later. They’re great for hiking, look good in jeans and are comfortable. The zipper provides easy on/off and if they get wet dry out pretty quick. This particular model may not be waterproof but you can buy a spray to do that which works rather effectively. I’d easily buy another pair at this price if I still had a need for them.

Same here. Yay for small sizes! Boo for already owning black workboots. If these were either waterproof or safety toes, I’d strongly consider it, though.

Is the boot waterproof? I would use this for the Snow shoveling. I have Gout and super wide feet. Using my regular Boots Lace up kills my feet.

Hope it is.
