I have the 4000Xl. Quality product. Their customer service is top notch too. The only minor complaint that I have about this is that it needs cables of varying lengths for people like me and my husband who are different heights. Theoretically, you should be able to adjust your position on the board and not need a cable of a different length to allow a full range of motion, but in my husband’s case, his torso length is just different enough to make this an issue for him. He needs a cable approx. 2-3" shorter than the one supplied by the company to make this product work for him without no issues. I have discovered there are places online where you can get cables made, but have not done so yet. I would prefer that Bayou Fitness offer this as an option since they know what material they use, etc. other than that, I love mine. It is easy to set up and take down, although it is a solid piece of equipment. I use it in our guest bedroom.

I bought one of these the last time they were offered (March 8, 2014). I am satisfied with my purchase, but they are definitely not the best quality machines on the market.

Good:

  • It does work. As one should expect, these can give you a good workout and help tone muscle. They will not help you bulk up like throwing free weights around can.

Bad:

  • Mine did not come with assembly instructions. I managed to figure out how to get it together, but it was frustrating and took longer than it should have.

  • Mine came with a broken pin that is supposed to hold one of the pulleys in place. I managed to rig a fix to get the unit working.

  • Folding/storage isn’t as easy as I had hoped. Maybe if I had the instructions, I would see an easier way of folding the unit up, but I don’t see how.

  • The included DVD is very low quality.

Overall, I think the unit is worth the price. There are some downsides, but at only $300 what do you expect? If you are looking for a high quality unit, skip this one. If you are looking for an exercise machine that works and is pretty inexpensive, this should work for you.

Go to youtube and you will find numerous instructional videos for your model.

I almost bought one after watching the video. I realized that the video they showed was the Bayou Fitness Total Trainer DLX-III Home Gym model (http://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Fitness-Total-Trainer-DLX-III/dp/B000N2X1AG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396804678&sr=8-1&keywords=Bayou+Fitness+3800-LX+Total+Trainer+Home+Gym) and not the one for sale.
