be aware of microplastics!
a jar of smoothy could have microplastics equal to that from 2 metric tons of wild caught fish.
This is why I use the stainless steel container for my Vitamix.
They go on sale periodically & Vitamix.com will give you a $25 coupon for your 1st purchase.
Thanks for sharing! It’s something I never considered but it makes a lot of sense. I’ll have to reconsider what products I use and look into replacing them with glass or stainless steel.
Way back in the day, my mom would blender all kinds of things together to make my brother’s baby food - it was always green and stored in country crock tubs
Oh my goodness. Thank you for this. I hadn’t even considered microplastics. I was going to buy it. Thank you!
According to the research “Before test, the blender was cleaned in turn with tap water, boiling water, ethanol and MQ water. The wall of the container was scratch using a stainless knife to collect some debris as “mother” material, which acted as reference for our test.”
Further down in the research " Although the mimicked process is different from real situations, this study can lead to a better understanding on the likelihood of the releasing [microplastics] and [nanoplastics] from the cooking ware in our kitchen".
Not saying that the severity of micro and nano plastics are not relevant, but it is equally important to understand how these tests are conducted. Nano plastics are airborne; prevent that from entering your body.
