Reviews on the whites, anyone? Or at all, for that matter?
About a month ago, found a bottle of their 05 merlot. If my memory serves right hmm
-initially dark chocolate and blue berry nose, bright fruit still going strong, gentle acid, round finish with hint of dirt. I was satisfied.
So far tried their, blend, Petit Verdot and Merlot. All solid.
I don’t have any detailed notes, but I’ve been to their winery. Really kind people, and they make excellent wines from what I recall.
Sadly, I can’t remember whether or not I had these specific wines/vineyards, as it was a few years ago (I’ve not been back to wine country since) - the Syrah and Cab that I had were both wonderful, deep and powerful.
Really tempted by that half case of half-bottle Cabernet. Love to have some half bottles of good wine sitting around.
I’ll probably go for it if I step into this Woot off.
I love their PV, their other wines are solid but a little pricey. Just wish they had PV two pack instead of PV/PS two pack. Haven’t had the PS though, may be decent…
We do not typically send our wines in for reviews. We did recently submit the 2011 Sauvignon blanc and received 88 Pts from WE and the CA State Fair awarded the wine a Gold. Big Guy White is not submitted - the wine is quite delicious, a Chardonnay Viognier blend, slightly off-dry and a crowd pleaser.
I just returned from a sales trip to FL and we were showing the 2007 Petite sirah and sold out. I think the fruit and acidity from Yountville brightens an otherwise darkly colored and rather tannic varietal. Being the 2007 vintage and now several years in bottle it is showing very nicely and well worth trying.
How can you go wrong with some aged Napa Valley Cabernet? In this world of fruit forward wines, an aged Cabernet can only bring delight! And 2006 is an underrated vintage that will continue to develop with time. And in 375ml format.
If you have been to the winery, the Massa Ranch is directly across the parking lot. The vineyard is now certified organic and delivers very rich, powerful fruit - with lovely acidity from our cooler climate. Thank you for your nice words about your visit. Hopefully you get to come back to Napa soon.
In a world where Merlot seems to be dirty word, we have done very well with our Merlot - focusing on severe vineyard canopy management to ensure even ripeness in the fruit.
The Petit verdot is a treat as so few are produced and here is an opportunity to to taste one that is 95% varietal - allowing one to see exactly why PV is such a good blender and what it brings to the blend.
Anthony,
welcome. We are very glad Bell is here on wine.woot. thanks for hanging out here.
Happy to be part of the community. I always enjoy the conversations.
That wine was really good and a great deal for the wine drinker. Little did I realize when we produced the wine that as many people would purchase it for memorabilia as would to drink it. We had one Charger fan tell us to ship it to the South during a heat wave as she was going to add it to her sports memorabilia collection and had no intention of drinking it! I hope the team is able to have a good finish to the season?
I’m not drinking my bottle until the Chargers win the SB. And fire Norv!!!
Currently however, the chokin’ chargers; from one living in SD.
And this may be quite some time in the future…
Could be a well aged bottle, but one can always hope.
Not sure which vintages(s) you have but believe me, the wine will age beautifully, especially the 2008 and 2009 - although I hope you do not have to wait too long!
Thank you Anthony for stopping by and for featuring these great wines on Woot! Looks like the Cab is already sold out, but there’s still some of the Petite Pack, the Syrah and the Whites… great holiday wines methinks!
