I bought THREE Benq cameras here last year, and they are great.

But they were obvious “gray market” with euro adapters and warranty service in the middle east. Great if your camera breaks in Yemen.

Are these official imports?

“lamp life of up to 10,000 hours”…a local car dealership was offering ‘up to $1500 in lottery tickets’ for a test drive, I got $10, which technically is ‘up to $1500’. I don’t see any warranty information on the bulb. What happens if mine blows out after 30 days, or a year, or two, or short of 10,000 hours? Or is this just a MTBF YMMV?

We have the MX524 … almost the same, but 200 lumens brighter and we love it.

You have to buy the 3D glasses. B & H sells them for the BenQ. We just bought an open box one on Sunday from them (similar model - BenQ MS524 SVGA DLP Projector) for just $229.95. Free expedited shipping, too. It arrives later today. They sell it new for under $300.

We got our BenQ today. Have already played blueray, laptop, and iPad (with the correct dongle) through it via HDMI cable.

The iPad apps with HD looked phenomenal. The blueray movie was great. The sound is low, but we’ve got a pair of Logitech speakers on the way to address that.

Right now, it’s set up on a TV tray table in the living room, with a sheet over a large picture frame and it looks great. I can foresee many great family game and movie nights with this. Best of all is that it weighs very little and could easily be moved from room to room, depending upon the need/use. It will probably go cabin camping with us, as well. We’re repurposing our old 8 mm video camera bag for use as a projector and cable/dongle bag.

They still make projectors that don’t use LEDs as a light source? Who would buy one? Especially when you find out how much the lamp costs.

Yes, LED is great, but it doesn’t ‘Project’ very brightly across the average distance needed. If you’ve ever seen a cheap projector that is dim, you know it is a drag.
